Keystone Stars Celebration

March 1, 2010

Dear Next Level Development Parents,

We are very proud to announce that our center has reached STAR Two in Keystone STARS! Please see the STAR Two sign on our front door.
Keystone STARS is:
· Pennsylvania's program to promote continuous quality improvement in early learning and school age environments.
o Quality environments help children to develop in ways that foster success in schools and life.
· An initiative with the research-based Performance Standards as its foundation.
o The standards are tiered in levels that range from Start with STARS to STAR 4.
· An important part of Pennsylvania's growing early learning system.
o Keystone STARS works with DPW certified programs, family providers, school-aged programs, Head Start, school districts, and accrediting bodies.
· A valuable tool to increase parental and community awareness of the importance of quality early learning.
o Keystone STARS is an easily recognizable indication that a program is working on continuous quality improvement.
Enjoy celebrating with us on Thursday, March 25th!

Parents- Start your day with coffee and a muffin at the Next Level Café.

Kids- Have fun with Jolly Holly the clown at 10:00am.

Staff- Enjoy an Italian-style catered lunch.
PLUS, there is more…

We received a Keystone STARS Merit Award to help provide the funding to build a new playground on May 15th at Next Level Development! Please take a look at the picture of the new playground displayed in our lobby.

So, please mark your calendar for May 15th! We are reaching out to our Next Level Development families and friends to participate in a Community Build Day. We are going to build the playground ourselves for our children!

More information will come out shortly about this fun and exciting day.

As always, we very much appreciate your confidence in us to provide the very best programming for your children. Thank you for the continued support of our program and staff!

Sincerely,

Mary Salinger, Director

How much longer do we have to wait for a budget?

On Tuesday September 1, the Conference Committee is scheduled to meet about the state budget. Time is running short for program providers across the state and our legislators need to hear about it!

Tell your legislators to get together and finish a budget that funds Child Care Works, Keystone Stars, PreK Counts and the Head Start Supplemental. Tell them you're counting on it, families are depending on it, and the state's economy needs it!

Click here to email your legislator today!

Thank you for all that you do.

Sincerely,

The Pennsylvania Child Care Association

PS: Did you see our video? The Pennsylvania Child Care Association and the Early Care and Education Consortium put together this video, thanks to our member programs, which was circulated to the General Assembly last week. Share it with your friends and ask them to take action too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRq9NxhRSIg
